Beginning Photography Course

by Photographer Bonnie McDermott

Course Description:

Digital cameras have made photography so accessible by putting cameras into virtually everyone’s hands. However, it can also become so overwhelming with so many buttons and knobs to push and turn you can become so confused that you throw up your hands and resort back to using only the fully auto setting. Does this sound like you?

You're not alone. Many people buy a camera only to find they only know how to use it as a point-n-shoot and still are not getting the photos they dream of taking. Learn the basics of photography and the tricks of the pros. You will get 12 hours of instruction, hands on experience taking photos and need no previous knowledge.

Lesson 1: Into to aperture, shutter speed, ISO, important settings and care for your camera, and auto vs. manual focus (2hr Class)

INTERMEDIATE PHOTOGRAPHY #2656

This class is an opportunity for you to fine tune fundamental photo skills and learn how to use them to make photos with strong visual impact. The emphasis of the intermediate level photography class is photographic content and creativity. We’ll study photo composition and explore how camera angle, lens choice, filters, and basic photo techniques can improve your photographs. We’ll also study the images of master photographers to help develop an individual photo style or interest. For most versatility, students are encouraged to shoot with a 35mm (film or digital) single lens reflex (SLR) camera, but all are welcome! No darkroom work is involved in either level.
